Instant Protection Against Dangerous Influences

Family time is a necessity for those wishing to build happy and healthy families. Parents that take time out to eat as a family, play, read, and talk together, teach children that they matter, that relationships are worth nurturing, and that strong family bonds breed success.

Setting aside blocks allocated for family time can be very difficult for busy families. By the time everyone is home from work, school, sports, and other outside activities people are tired, playing a board game seems like the least important item on the to-do list. However, playing a board game, metaphorically, is the most important item to cross off of the list. Read more…

Miniature Painting

As an artist, Rebecca Latham as well as her mother, Karen, and sister, Bonnie, strive for detail in their painting. Studying with a Flemish master, they have developed their styles for painting extreme realism. Their works, both large and small, are painted “in miniature”.

Early Beginnings

Miniature painting is a traditional style of art that is very detailed, often referred to as painting or working “in miniature”. Because of their origins as illuminations, they are also painted to have as smooth of a surface as possible. (It is also suggested that miniature art may have been influenced by the medals of ancient Rome as well) Miniature art can be traced back to ancient Egyptian manuscripts on papyrus scrolls. Your Will and Your Life

When we accepted Jesus as our personal Savior, did we not do this to save ourselves from damnation? Some of us chose Jesus because our life was a mess from trying to live it our way. But, for whatever your reason was for accepting Jesus, we all hope to meet together in Heaven. But for some reason, a lot of us tend to have a problem, and that is giving up our independence. I call the shots or nobodys going to tell me how to live my life. Yup, that’s how we are. One of the things Jesus taught about was what it takes to get into the Kingdom of God. Jesus said in Mark 8:34-36 ‘If any man will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel, shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the lose of his soul? It may seem strange at first that one would give up his entire life to someone he can’t even see. Knowing When To Move On

As a couples and marriage counselor, sometimes my relationship advice concerns whether a client should end a marriage or relationship. I hear many clients claim that they remain in a relationship simply because they’ve dedicated their best years to it and they don’t know how to start over.

People are generally afraid of being alone, so they continue with an unstable, unhealthy relationship in spite of the stagnation. They do nothing to rekindle the relationship yet do not break if off completely because they are afraid of loss and the unknown. In short, they settle. Read more…

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

ADD is when the reticular activating system in your brain, which is a part of your body’s central nervous system, is dysfunctional. This area of the brain is responsible for coordinating the information from one region of the brain to another via norepinephrine, due to external information. When it is impaired, there is excessive stimulation causing the mind to be overworked and unable to cope, leading to a lack of focus and other symptoms.

There are many forms of ADD, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Behavior Disorder (ADBD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD), to name a few. Of these, ADHD is the most well know form of ADD, and affects approximately 5% of all children in America, making it the most common neurological disease. Read more…

Bankruptcy Basics

The Bankruptcy Code (Title 11 of the United States Code) gives the force of law to several national policies or values. First is the value of allowing a debtor a breathing spell and a fresh start, the chance for a productive future unburdened by past debts and mistakes. Second is the value of a fair distribution of a debtor’s property among creditors.

The federal bankruptcy system is designed to achieve an orderly, equitable distribution of the debtor’s assets under court supervision and compulsion. By contrast, state law on creditors’ rights has been called “grab law.” Each creditor grabs what it can, and the debtor is dismembered. The swift creditor is rewarded. The slow creditor gets nothing.
